POST OFFICES IN TYNEDALE FACE MORE CLOSURES IN 2008

Next year, Government plans to further cut back the network will hit Tynedale. The process in being carried out on an area basis. Currently there are 10,000 nationwide. The Government plans to cut 2,500, one quarter of the current total. There could be 180 closures in Northumberland.
With one of the criteria being no more than 3 miles travelling for customers and the availability of public transport, communities in the Tyne Valley could be hard hit although it is possible that some may be replaced with a mobile post office. This has been trialled in County Durham
If you feel strongly about the excellent dedicated service given by your local post office then do sign the petition in your local shop.
