End of line for District Councils

11.32.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st Apr 2009

Tynedale District Council and Morpeth Borough Council ceased to exist from today (1st April 2009). That means that all Tynedale and Morpeth Councillors will cease to be district councillors from that day.

Three Liberal Democrat Councillors from the Hexham constituency will continue to serve on the new unitary Northumberland authority representing their communities in Tynedale and Ponteland.

Liberal Democrat activists will continue to campaign throughout Tynedale and Ponteland, ready for whenever a general election is called.
